The assistance we received from Dorsbien started with a review of properties against our criteria as previously we had wasted an entire visit looking at properties recommended by two agents that were just not suitable. When we did look at a fresh group of properties short-listed by Dorsbien having a fluent French speaker in attendance (another Dorsbien service) was a real benefit, and we found the property we were looking for. Dorsbien also helped us to select a Notaire and brief him. They also accompanied us to the signing of the legal contracts; critical as the meeting was conducted entirely in French, much of it technical and legalistic. Throughout our restoration project we sought the advice of Dorsbien on local procedures and regulation (including planning), choice of contractors and sourcing materials. They helped us with applications for water and electricity connections, and we used their telephone support service to obtain information from the utility providers as to progress with the applications. Helpfully Dorsbien attended site visits on our behalf, and reported back diligently. This alone saved us a considerable amount in travel costs. Now that our holiday home is complete we use Dorsbien’s home care package. This gives us the reassurance that the property is being regularly visited and checked. We have also used the telephone support service that is part of this package to report problems (e.g. a water leak) and deal with queries regarding amounts billed by the utilities (not uncommon) that would be beyond our basic French. We have also requested an extra visit from Dorsbien ahead of our arrival, as well as the supply of basic provisions, which means that we know that we will arrive able to enjoy our holiday time rather than having to deal with any niggling problems. One of the lessons that we learnt in France is that things that you think should be quite simple are often anything but. Quite simply we could not have opened our French bank account (in the local branch when no-one spoke a word of English) without the attendance of one of the Dorsbien team; even then it took well over an hour!!
We have used Dorsbien for a wide range of services (much more than listed here) and have always been fully satisfied with the service provided, which is friendly, customer focussed, and very efficient. It is, in our opinion, value for money; and it offers us hassle-free ownership and peace of mind.
